On the 14th of June 2019, 14 extremely excited, Rising Futures students from John Fisher School travelled to Watford Football Club for their World of Work day.
For the students at JF school, this was a perfect World of Work (WOW) day out - as many of the students are sporty and practical learners... so being somewhere that represents passion, sport and movement, our WOW day programme was the perfect fit.
Lucy - the Watford F.C. representative - who led the day was great and it was a really positive experience for our students to converse with her about about the topic of football.
They responded to her with enthusiasm and respect.
The program of the day consisted of various conversations where the students could practice their communication skills, as well as the opportunity for our students to partake in interactive activities. The students were asked to visualise and all of the processes that are involved in producing a football match - assessing risks, modifying stadium plans, production of the football match, and even acting in a mock press conference! That activity in particular was a treat for our students. I was amazed to see the confidence in our students and was proud of how assertive and willing to participate they were!
By the end of the day, when asked for feedback, they were incredibly positive about their experience and what they learned.
To Lucy and the staff at Watford Football Club, thank you for your time! We had GREAT day!
