Five Elms Builds the Future at Hawkins\Brown for World of Work Day

On the 26th of June, Hawkins\Brown warmly welcomed our Finding Futures students from Five Elms Primary School for their World of Work day.

For many of our students, this was their first time visiting a professional office setting. We were so thrilled that the students had the opportunity to see these professionals in action at an internationally renowned architectural firm.

The students were given a brief introduction about the history of the architectural practice and the various buildings that they helped to design. The students ‘ooh-ed’ and ‘ahh-ed’ at the amazing designs and many of them were so excited to talk to these creative professionals.

During the speed-networking session, the students asked amazing questions, such as:

‘What are some of the daily tasks of an architect?’

‘What have been some of your favourite projects?’ and

‘How does one become an architect?’

We loved seeing their confidence grow when asking these questions. The students were deeply engaged in the conversations and, by the end of the day, a few of the students proudly announced that they wanted to become architects in the future!

After lunch, the students were given the opportunity to see the various aspects of the firm, from the business to the design to the finance sides, in action. The students loved the office tours, where they got to see building models, touch design tools, and play with computers.

As a leader in innovative design and strategic urban planning, Hawkins\Brown challenged our students to organise and design their own parks. Our students demonstrated amazing communication and creativity skills as they collaborated to put in water slides, swings, and trampolines into their parks!

We here at Yes Futures are so incredibly proud of our Finding Futures students. They demonstrated amazing confidence, resilience, self-awareness, and communication skills during their time at the architectural practice.

Thank you to Hawkins\Brown for a lovely World of Work day!
